UC Irvine Sorority and Fraternity Life wordmark

Dear UCI Student,

As you begin another academic year, you will encounter new opportunities to get involved on campus. There are many different student organizations at UCI, including sororities and fraternities. For you to make informed choices about your involvement, UCI would like to provide all students with the information regarding risk management and student organizations.  The list of suspended or non-recognized student organizations can change on a regular basis and we advise you to refer to either of these websites, Campus Organizations and Sorority and Fraternity Life, for the most current information.

To better understand all the operations of our recognized organizations, please refer to the 2024-2025 Annual SFL Report. This annual report was designed in compliance with the California Assembly Bill No. 524, titled the Campus–Recognized Sorority and Fraternity Transparency Act.

Hazing Prevention

Hazing is always a concern on college campuses.  California Assembly Bill No. 2193 and the US Congressional legislation titled Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA) both expand laws on hazing prevention and transparency reporting. UCI has developed its educational efforts for students to address these mandates and will inform the campus community, prospective students and visitors of data, incidents, and policies and procedures related to hazing.  We encourage all students to act where they feel individuals may be at risk.  Recognized UCI organizations are actively contributing to the excellence of UCI and the greater Irvine community and do not haze.

At UCI we ask our students to Choose Kindness: Don’t Haze.  If you are aware of any activity that may put students at risk, you can report it to UCI Police Department, Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct, or other offices listed on the Hazing Prevention website.

Please be aware that there are some students who act on behalf of student organizations that are not recognized by UCI.  Students representing these groups may contact you to join their organization or invite you to attend their events.  These organizations are not affiliated with the campus or respective governing councils in any way.  Campus personnel do not advise these groups, do not provide training and resources, and their events are not sanctioned by UCI.
